Ha ha! I got the FX to work! And it is beautiful…
Well, it WAS beautiful, until I discovered a horde of bugs around it, such as:
- Monster graphics are correct, but once in awhile the wrong file loads for a given monster
- The timing on the effects appearing and disappearing along with the combat maps and updates needs to be better synced
- Attack mapping seems broken, but ONLY with the rogue? It gets into a massive CPU over-write in the routine
- At one interval that hasn’t repeated, I couldn’t Guard on the first turn with the wizard. It didn’t repro on subsequent turns
Obviously, the graphics and sound effects take a back-seat to the process of getting them on the screen. I got a lot of work ahead to clean up the code…
