Hello! So what is this blog about?<\/p>\n
This site is dedicated to my vintage computing projects. The name of the blog comes from Don Quixote<\/em>, and is a reference to pursuing things that others find strange, weird, or just plain silly.<\/p>\n Since 2005, when I completed my Computer Science degree, I’d been working on and off on a huge programming game project for my classic computer, the TI-99\/4a. I always lamented the lack of good CRPG’s (Computer Role Playing Game) on the platform, and I always wanted to write a game that I would have been thrilled to play back in my childhood.<\/p>\n The project went through numerous revisions and design changes, largely because as a hobby project, you don’t have a project manager scowling at you forcing you to just get the thing done… Also, interest has waxed in and out based on real life interruptions, other interests, and so forth.<\/p>\n Currently, as I’ve finally achieved my dream of being a software engineer developer (not a developer in test, which I was at Microsoft for six years), I’d finally found some new motivation to complete the job, for better or worse. I also attended a TI convention near Portland which was a huge motivator to have something cool to show off at the next one.<\/p>\n Realms of Antiquity: The Shattered Crown was completed and released on December 29th, 2020!
